The prepared buttermilk from livestock milk is poured into a skin bag and churned until butter granules form. The produced butter is taken out of the skin bag and pressed by hand to remove its buttermilk. Then the butter is heated to remove any remaining impurities. After cooling, the animal oil is poured into a container (hizhe) to increase its shelf life for several years.
